Hotel Booking Terms

Last updated: [date]

1. About these terms

These terms apply when you book hotel accommodation through the Luminary app. The hotel booking service is provided by Luminary Ecosystem Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 14927909) with its registered office at 29 Finsbury Circus, London EC2M 5SQ (“Luminary”, “we”, “us”). By completing a booking you agree to these terms. They apply in addition to the Luminary Terms of Service that govern your Luminary account.

2. Our role

We provide a platform that lets you search for and book hotel accommodation supplied by third-party hotels and accommodation providers. We act as a booking facilitator only. We are not the provider of the accommodation, and we are not the organiser, retailer, or principal in respect of it. When you make a booking, the contract for the accommodation is formed directly between you and the hotel or accommodation provider. The hotel is responsible for the accommodation and for its quality, availability, and delivery. The search and booking technology behind the service is supplied to us by a third-party travel technology partner.

3. Standalone accommodation only

The service lets you book hotel accommodation on a standalone basis. It does not combine accommodation with transport or other travel services, and it is not a package or a linked travel arrangement.

4. Prices and payment

The price shown at the time of booking is the total price for the accommodation described, in the currency displayed. Local taxes and charges, such as city or tourist taxes, resort fees, and any charges for services you use at the property, may not be included in that price and may be payable by you directly to the hotel. Payment is taken from the available balance in your Luminary account at the time you confirm the booking. Your booking is confirmed once payment has been completed and we have issued a booking confirmation.

5. Changes, cancellations, and refunds

Each booking is subject to the cancellation and amendment policy of the relevant hotel and rate, which is shown to you before you confirm the booking. Some rates are non-refundable. Where a cancellation or change is permitted and a refund is due under the applicable hotel policy, we will return the refunded amount to your Luminary account once we have received it from the hotel or accommodation provider. The timing of any refund depends on the hotel and may take time to process. Because you are booking accommodation for specific dates, the statutory right to cancel within 14 days does not apply to these bookings.

6. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for making sure that the guest details, dates, and other booking information are correct before you confirm and pay, as changes may not be possible or may involve additional charges. You are responsible for meeting the hotel’s check-in requirements, which may include a minimum age, valid identification, and a payment card or deposit for incidentals. You must comply with the hotel’s rules and policies during your stay.

7. Our responsibility to you

We are responsible for providing the booking platform with reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for the accommodation itself or for any act, omission, delay, cancellation, or failure to perform by the hotel or accommodation provider, all of which are the hotel’s responsibility. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or under any statutory rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded.

8. Your personal data

To arrange your booking we process your personal data and share it with the hotel or accommodation provider and with our travel technology partner, so that the booking can be made and fulfilled. We do this because it is necessary to perform your booking. How we handle your personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy.

9. Complaints

If something goes wrong with your stay, please raise it with the hotel first, as the hotel provides the accommodation. For any issue with the booking itself or with payment, please contact us at [support contact].

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you also benefit from the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country in which you live, and nothing in these terms affects those rights.
