Canada does not have a standalone cookie statute. This Policy reflects those requirements.

1) What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. They help website providers understand how a site is used, remember login details, and store preferences.

We also use similar technologies, such as pixels, tags, software development kits, and local storage. References to cookies in this Policy include these technologies where the context allows.

2) Does Luminary Use Cookies?

Yes. In accordance with our Privacy Policy, we use cookies to:

  • ensure our Services function properly;
  • detect and prevent fraud;
  • understand how visitors use and engage with our site; and
  • analyze and improve our Services.

3) Who Sets Cookies on Luminary’s Website?

  • First-party cookies: set and read by Luminary when you use our Services.
  • Third-party cookies: set by other companies (e.g., Google, Meta) for analytics and related purposes. See "Managing Cookies" below for control options.

Some third-party cookie providers may process information outside Canada. Where this involves your personal information, we address those transfers and the safeguards that apply in our Privacy Policy.

4) How We Use Cookies

Cookies help us deliver effective and secure Services. Under Canadian law, your consent to cookies may be express or implied, depending on the nature of the cookie and your reasonable expectations. Cookies that are necessary to provide the Services you request are used on the basis of your implied consent when you use our website. Cookies used for advertising and similar purposes are set only after you have given consent through our cookie banner.

A. Cookies Used on the Basis of Implied Consent

The following categories of cookies are necessary for the secure operation and improvement of the Services we provide, and are used without a separate opt-in.

Authentication. Remember your login state as you move through the site and dashboard.

Fraud Prevention and Detection. Identify risky devices and browsers and help prevent fraudulent transactions.

Security. Protect user data and platform infrastructure from unauthorized access.

Functionality and Interface. Display correct information for your selected location and keep features working as expected.

Analytics (Service Improvement Only). Collect statistical information about how visitors use and navigate the site, used solely to improve our Services. This includes performance data, navigation patterns, and usage trends collected via tools such as Google Analytics. Data collected for this purpose is not used for advertising or profiling. You can opt out of analytics at any time via our Cookie Settings tool.

For details on Google’s data practices, visit https://policies.google.com/privacy. You can also opt out of Google Analytics tracking via the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

B. Cookies Requiring Your Express Consent

The following categories of cookies are only set with your prior consent, given through our cookie banner. You can manage your preferences at any time via our Cookie Settings tool.

Preference Cookies. Remember your settings and choices (e.g., language, region) beyond what is strictly necessary for functionality, so we can recognize you on return visits.

Advertising Cookies. Used by us and selected partners to show you relevant Luminary advertisements on other websites and to measure engagement with those advertisements. For cookies used on our business partners’ websites, please refer to those sites directly.

5) Managing Cookies

You can manage your consent preferences at any time via our Cookie Settings tool. Cookies described in Section 4A cannot be fully disabled through the tool as they are required to provide the Services, although analytics can be turned off as described above.

Your web browser may also allow you to delete or disable cookies. Note that some features may not function as intended if cookies are disabled.

Cookies last for different periods. Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser, while persistent cookies remain on your device for a defined period or until you delete them. The specific cookies we use, their providers, their purpose, and how long they last are listed in our Cookie Settings tool, which we keep up to date.

We do not set cookies that require your consent until you have given it through our cookie banner. You can withdraw or change your consent at any time, and doing so is as straightforward as giving it, by reopening the Cookie Settings tool. Withdrawing your consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdrew it, and we will stop setting the relevant cookies once you do.
